The morning after the big snow storm...as the neighborhood digs out the golden glow of the nght before turns to an arctic blue.

I love this picture of Bushwick, it makes it look like 19th century Paris. The snow storm has blanketed the whole neighborhood with a warm rosy glow. It is in moments like this I see the potential of the world around me.

Bushwick Sublime 2005
Posted by Hello

Madlene gave me this four years ago as a present. Her father had brought it back from Iran and I thought it was appropriate since I wrote one of my major Master's degree papers on Qajar qalamdans (19th c. Iranian pen boxes). It was an example of the popular mass produced boxes from the bazaar. I used it for the last four years as a prop to open one of my 19th century loft windows...it seemed appropriate. Now that I have had those windows replaced and I don't require its aid, I thought it was fitting to start the New Year by throwing something from the past away--something that is no longer useful.
It's flakey shell is poetically decrepit and longing for reincarnation.
